prosumer

Connection of production with consumption. The term was coined by US futurist Alvin Toffler (1928– )in his book The Third Wave (1980). It described a situation where interconnected users came together to create products to meet their demands. The word prosumer is also used, as a contraction of ‘professional’ and ‘consumer’, to describe products of a quality suitable for a semi-professional.
