conductivity, thermal

(W m−1 K−1) measure of how well a material conducts heat. A good conductor, such as a metal, has a high conductivity; a poor conductor, called an insulator, has a low conductivity. The heat-conducting properties of a particular combination of materials are expressed as a U-value.
