consumers' association

Any group formed to protect consumer interests, usually where the quality and price of goods or services is concerned.

According to a group that has compiled a consumer confidence index since 1967, the Conference Board, US consumer confidence rose to its highest level in 31 years at the end of 1999. The confidence was said to be a consequence of low inflation rates, high employment levels, and no impending end to the economic boom.
