The Alberta chapter of the Consumers' Association of Canada expressed concerns that the change will result in higher costs to consumers; greater fragmentation of care and decreased confidentiality. The ANF joins colleagues from the Australian Healthcare Association, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, National Rural Health Alliance, Australian Consumers' Association, Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Australian Council of Social Service, Doctors Reform Society, Health Consumers Network, Australian Physiotherapy Association and Health Issues Centre on the new AHCRA executive. In May 1999 Mary Assunta, a research officer with the Consumers' Association of Penang in Malaysia, charged that developing countries would be powerless to block the United States from prying open their markets. |
