contingency table

In data handling, a table listing information classified as variable according to two or more independent attributes. Such tables are used commonly in commerce, notably by insurance companies.

Although trial and error with contingency tables for a single predictor would eventually yield the same results as this segmentation process, the latter was much more efficient.
