coonhound

Breed of large hound developed from European hounds imported into in Virginia, USA, at the start of the 17th century, and used for hunting various types of small game. It has a short black coat with red markings on muzzle, chest, and feet; long drooping ears; and a long tail. It stands up to 68 cm/27 in tall.
