coprocessor

In computing, an additional processor that works with the main central processing unit to carry out a specific function. The two most common coprocessors are the mathematical coprocessor, used to speed up calculations, and the graphic coprocessor, used to improve the handling of graphics.

The new SoftFone[R] AD6721 reduces the cost and component count of entry-level multimedia phones, and the SoftFone AD6722 adds an integrated image signal processor (ISP) for cameras up to 3 Megapixels and direct camera interface to eliminate the need for a separate camera coprocessor.
