corporate venturing

Investment in a new or existing venture by another company. Usually corporate venturing is undertaken by large firms investing in start-ups or small, rapidly growing companies. Corporate venturing means that growing firms have access to more venture funding and are able to receive advice from the investing company. One disadvantage is that large companies can use corporate venturing as a means of stifling competition, through acquisition.
