Opera by Giuseppe Verdi (libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on Byron's poem), first produced in Trieste, Italy, on 25 October 1848. In the story the Pasha of Coron captures the corsair Corrado, who falls in love with Gulnara, a slave in the harem. She frees him and kills her master, and together they return to Corrado's home, where they find his betrothed, Medora, dying.
