Coxsackie virus

One of a family of about 30 RNA-containing viruses, including enteroviruses (those that enter through the gastrointestinal tract). Coxsackie viruses can cause severe throat infections, meningitis, and inflammation of the heart (Keshan disease).

To the Editor: Human enteroviruses (polioviruses, coxsackievirus A, coxsackievirus B, echoviruses, enterovirus 71, and newer recognized serotypes) belong to the Picornaviridae family, Enterovirus genus (1).
1994) found a higher percentage of divers seropositive for coxsackievirus B4 and B5 compared with a control group.
No PCR products were generated from enterovirus (coxsackievirus A4 and coxsackievirus B4) and rhinovirus (n = 2) clinical isolates.
