crumhorn

Any of a Renaissance woodwind family of musical instruments with a double reed enclosed in a cap, and with soprano, alto, tenor, and bass members. It has a narrow cylindrical bore and is curved upwards like a walking stick held upside down. It dates from the 15th century and emits a buzzing tone.
