Cures

Sabine city, 40 km/25 mi from Rome, on the left bank of the Tiber, birthplace of the legendary king Numa Pompilius.

Cures was probably destroyed 589 by the Lombards (the Germanic people who invaded Italy 568), but the site remains. It consists of a hill with two peaks, which were crowned formerly by the citadel and necropolis.
