Extract of the leaves and shoots of Acacia catechu, an East Indian plant. It is rich in tannic acid, which is released slowly, a property that makes it a useful intestinal astringent in diarrhoea.

The use of commercial timbers like pyinkado (Xylia dolabriformis), padauk (Pterocarpus macrocarpus) and thitka (Pentace burmanica), and non-timber forest products such as cutch (the boiled heartwood of the sha [Acacia catechu] tree used for tanning and dyeing) and bamboo was regulated from 1870.
