cyberpunk

Term coined by US science-fiction writer and editor Gardner Dozois (1947– ) for a particular type of modern science fiction that combines high-technology landscapes with countercultural social and political ideas. Leading writers in this genre include William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Pat Cadigan, Greg Bear, and Rudy Rucker.

While we settlers are still secure on our covered couches, content watching television or America Online, the cybercowboys, cyberpunks, netheads and byte drovers are restlessly staring at a different screen.
