paspalum

Grass of the genus Paspalum, especially P. dilatatum, native to South America and now one of the most widespread grasses in the higher-rainfall areas of Australia. It is a useful pasture grass in subtropical coastal areas, but a weed of crops, citrus orchards, and lawns.
