data processingUse of computers for performing clerical tasks such as stock control, payroll, and dealing with orders. DP systems are typically batch systems, running on mainframe computers. Data processing cycleFor data to be processed the following cycle of operations must be undergone: data are collected, then input into a computer where they are processed to produce the output. As the output may also be the input of a subsequent process the process is deemed cyclical. While being processed, data may undergo other operations such as storage and validation.
