dayflower

Any plant of the genus Commelina of the spiderwort family. All have pointed leaves and creeping stems that form roots. The flowers, usually blue, open in the morning and wither by day's end throughout the summer and fall.

The Asiatic dayflower is considered a weed because of its tendency to appear suddenly as an unwanted guest, unannounced and unplanted, in moist flower beds.
