de Vol, Luana (1942– )

American soprano. She studied in San Diego and London, and made her debut in San Francisco in 1983, as Ariadne. Her European debut was in Stuttgart in 1983, as Leonore. She sang in Berlin, at the Staatsoper and the Deutsche Oper, from 1986, as Weber's Euryanthe, Agathe, Rezia, and Senta. She sang Isolde at St Gallen in 1990, and the Empress in Die Frau ohne Schatten at Munich in 1993. She is one of the most promising dramatic sopranos of her generation.
