suffix

Letter or group of letters added to the end of a word in order to show its tense (‘passed’), to form the plural (‘children’), to change the part of speech (‘wonderful’ adjective; ‘wonderment’ noun), or to form a new word (‘sexist’).

Common suffixes are: -ing, -ed, -ness, -less, -able.
