diastolic pressure

In medicine, measurement due to the pressure of blood against the arterial wall during diastole (relaxation of the heart). It is the lowest blood pressure during the cardiac cycle. The average diastolic pressure in healthy young adults is about 80 mmHg. The variation of diastolic pressure due to changes in body position and mood is greater than that of systolic pressure. Diastolic pressure is also a more accurate predictor of hypertension (high blood pressure).
