direct marketing

Marketing techniques that deal directly with the consumer. Traditional direct marketing methods include telephone sales, direct mail, door-to-door sales, leafleting, and cold calling. The Internet opened up a new avenue of opportunity for direct marketeers and a number of techniques such as permission marketing have been pioneered utilizing the interactive nature of the medium.
