Test

River in Hampshire, southern England; length 48 km/30 mi. It rises near Ashe and flows south through Stockbridge and Romsey, before flowing into Southampton Water. It is used for trout fishing.

pneumoniae isolates that were identified during the designated time frame, tested for susceptibility to penicillin, found to be possibly resistant by the oxacillin disk diffusion test, and resistant by MIC testing distinguishing penicillin intermediate (PCN-I) or penicillin high-level resistant (PCN-R).
The identification of the species and the imipenem susceptibility were confirmed at the coordinating laboratory by using conventional tests (11) or ATB 32 GN system (bioMerieux, Marcy-l'Etoile, France) and by using the disk diffusion test (12), respectively.
pneumoniae isolates showed resistance to at least one extended-spectrum cephalosporin by the disk diffusion test.
