Opera by Alfredo Casella (libretto by C Lodovici, based on Gozzi's comedy), first produced at the Teatro Reale, Rome, Italy, on 17 March 1932. In the story, the fairy Miranda marries Altidor against the wishes of her father, Demogorgòn, who forces her to test most cruelly Altidor's devotion.
