A traditional red letter box belonging to the Royal Mail, in the UK. The envelope did not make its first appearance until 1839, when it replaced the centuries-old custom of folding a letter, writing the address on the outer face, and sealing it with wax. The gummed-flap envelope was introduced in 1850.

Government department or authority with responsibility for postal services. Many post offices also offer other services, including financial services, passport and license applications, and telecommunications.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) is an independent government organization that was reorganized in 1971. It is headed by the Postmaster General. Some mail processing is done by privatized post offices in retail stores.

Telescoping: Take the name and drop letters until you''ve found a name you like.
In my little transposing sailor man (to avoid copyright infringement, let's call him Top-Eye which neatly transposes to what he's got in his pipe), the makeup of a letter group changes only to add or drop letters when the word length changes.
This is referring to a Mail Drop letter that appeared in the March 2005 issue.
