du Pont, Pierre Samuel, IV (1935– )

US governor and representative. He went to the US House of Representatives as a Republican for Delaware. As governor of Delaware, he promoted business development by relaxing banking and credit laws, and opposed capital punishment. Later, he practised law in Washington.

He was born in Wilmington, Delaware and he served as technical representative for Du Pont Nemours & Company before entering politics.
