dungarees

Garment consisting of trousers and a bib panel with shoulder straps, used by workmen in the early 20th century and by women during World War II. In the 1940s–60s dungarees became a fashion garment and appeared with extra pockets and flaps, made in denim and other lightweight fabrics.

In the USA they are called ‘overalls’. They became popular again in the 1980s–90s and still are for babies and young children.
