rheniumHeavy, silver-white, metallic element, atomic number 75, relative atomic mass 186.2. It has chemical properties similar to those of manganese and a very high melting point (3,180°C/5,756°F), which makes it valuable as an ingredient in alloys. It was identified and named in 1925 by German chemists Walter Noddack (1893-1960), Ida Tacke, and Otto Berg from the Latin name for the River Rhine. How to thank TFD for its existence?
