dynamic link library

In computing, files of executable functions that can be loaded on demand in Microsoft Windows and linked at run time. Windows itself uses DLL files for handling international keyboards, for example, and Windows word-processing programs use DLL files for functions such as spelling and hyphenation checks, and thesaurus.
