Tragically saddled with congenital dyscalculia (a medical term for getting F's in second grade arithmetic despite doing the homework), this underwriter would flounder at articulating its mathematical underpinnings. The purpose of this research was to ascertain if teachers with dyslexia and dyscalculia perceive that their learning disabilities have affected their adult lives, including their teaching. If the aforementioned conditions are met and specific disability in basic numerical processing continues, educational practitioners may consider a classification of specific learning disability or diagnosis of developmental dyscalculia (Landerl, Bevan, & Butterworth, 2004). |
