e-mail style

    0.03 sec.

e-mail style

Informal and often ungrammatical style that has developed as a result of the increased use of e-mail as a swift means of communication. Sometimes, even capital letters are abandoned, and apostrophes omitted, to increase typing speed. The common opening for an e-mail is ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’, since the emphasis is on ‘speaking’ to the recipient. The most common closing form is ‘Regards’. Mobile phone messaging (SMS; short message service) is virtually a shorthand.
