editorial

In literature, an article written by or proceeding from an editor; in journalism, often a ‘leading’ article in a newspaper or magazine. The intention is usually to make a personal (or an organizational) comment upon the text that follows, or a response to a current event or issue in the news. Since the editor determines the content of the publication, the editorial is a valuable clue to the philosophy and political views that underpin this.
