electric fieldIn physics, a region in which a particle possessing electric charge experiences a force owing to the presence of another electric charge. The strength of an electric field, E, is measured in volts per metre (V m−1). It is a type of electromagnetic field. An electric field is formed between two metal plates that are parallel to each other and connected to a voltage supply.
