ethanamide

Solid, crystalline compound produced by distilling ammonium ethanoate in a stream of dry ammonia. As usually prepared it has a strong odour suggestive of mice, but this is due to impurities. It is soluble in water and alcohol, melts at 82°C/179.6°F, and boils at 222°C/431.6°F.
