ethical investment

Investment based on ethical considerations. Ethical investment funds invest only in companies that meet their ethical criteria. For example, the criteria might prohibit investment in tobacco companies or arms manufacturers, and may favour companies that behave in an environmentally responsible manner. The theory behind it is that an increase in ethical investment will in turn reward socially responsible companies.
