ethnotourism

Tourism centred around an indigenous group of people and their culture. Ethnotourists seek the experience of other cultures, a major part of which is participating in another way of life and seeing people carrying out their daily routines. It is important that what is seen and experienced is authentic. Inevitably though, the influx of visitors destroys the very thing they seek. Cultures have come to accommodate and put on shows for tourists. The most popular locations are remote areas of the Amazon, Thailand, and Indonesia.
