Interview that takes place when an individual leaves an organization. The interview may take the form of an informal chat, or may be something more structured, such as a questionnaire. The purpose of the exit interview is to assess an individual's reasons for leaving an organization. The interview may reveal important information about the organization such as stress levels, conflict with corporate culture, personality issues, or dissatisfaction with pay levels.
