pseudoscorpion

Member of the order Pseudoscorpiones, class Arachnida. They are very small, usually less than 8 mm/0.3 in long, and resemble scorpions in having pincers (pedipalps); the rear end, however, is not narrowed and there is no sting. Book scorpions, genus Chelifer, are often found in old books, but most pseudoscorpions live as predators in decaying leaf mould.
