fescue

Any grass of a widely distributed group. Many are used in temperate regions for lawns and pasture. Many upland species are viviparous, producing young plantlets instead of flowers. (Genus Festuca, family Gramineae.)

Q: We have Marathon tall fescue grass in our rear yard that has never done well, possibly due to two Dobermans.
The secondary rough contains Jacklin's Triple A Tall Fescue and a mix of native grasses-blue stem, broom-sedge, side-oats and switchgrass.
Farmers reported that when the cattle ate primarily the fescue called Kentucky 31, they went lame more often than usual, and their tails sometimes sloughed off.
