fibrositis

Inflammation and overgrowth of fibrous tissue, mainly of the muscle sheaths. It is also known as muscular rheumatism. Symptoms are sudden pain and stiffness, usually relieved by analgesics and rest.

The term fibrositis is commonly used for pain in muscles, tendons, and ligaments due to trauma or faulty posture (muscular rheumatism), lumbago pain due to pressure on nerves, and pain associated with anxiety neurosis (psychogenic rheumatism).
