field survey

    0.04 sec.

field survey

Examination of the ground surface for evidence of archaeological remains, without recourse to excavation. Surveys can be carried out unsystematically: field walking takes place over areas suspected of having archaeological material, and the locations of any finds or surface features encountered are plotted; or systematically: the area is divided into a grid and a sample of its sectors are walked, making the survey more representative of the whole and hence more accurate.

Last year JAL received a proposal from the Ministry to operate a charter flight and following a field survey JAL decided to go ahead and operate a charter flight.
He says, "Since the field survey was completed, weather has generally been good for soybean development and I do expect the [USDA] soybean yield to increase in subssequent reports, unless late-August weather turns hot and dry.
Granted, this report is important because it gives us the first objective field survey, but it's not expected that USDA will aggressively reduce yield potential until actual yields are seen in September/October.
