fir

Any of a group of conifer trees belonging to the pine family. The true firs include the balsam fir (A. balsamea) of northern North America and the silver fir (A. alba) of Europe and Asia. Douglas firs of the genus Pseudotsuga are native to western North America and the Far East. (True fir genus Abies, family Pinaceae.)

They lived with their Mother in a sand-bank, underneath the root of a very big fir tree.
