| Now, Burbank is getting its own flashover facility, possibly as early as November. In areas of moderate to high contamination, there has been a strong trend to the use of silicone housed composite insulators due to the increased performance in the suppression of leakage currents, flashover resistance and the reduced maintenance of the line. This, in turn, deteriorates the insulation, and that can cause flashovers and short circuits. |
