fluorescence microscopy

Technique for examining samples under a microscope without the need to slice them into sections thin enough to be translucent. Instead, fluorescent dyes are introduced into the tissue and used as a light source for imaging purposes. Fluorescent dyes can also be bonded to monoclonal antibodies and used to highlight areas where particular cell proteins occur.
