fluoridation

Addition of small amounts of fluoride salts to drinking water by certain water authorities to help prevent tooth decay. Experiments in Britain, the USA, and elsewhere have indicated that a concentration of fluoride of 1 part per million in tap water retards the decay of children's teeth by more than 50%.

Much concern has been expressed about the risks of medicating the population at large by the addition of fluoride to the water supply, but the medical evidence demonstrates conclusively that there is no risk to the general health from additions of 1 part per million of fluoride to drinking water.
