| As I leave the house in the morning I'll be checking the forsythia for new buds, and by the time its bright yellow blossoms begin to show, I will have set most of this year's boating schedule. for the best success, pick large spring blooms (try tulips, daffodils, forsythia and narcissus), cut the ends cleanly with a sharp knife, and place them in a water-filled vase just big enough to hold them (change water and re-cut stems every two days). When I finally did, Tessa veered off of the path onto a connected sidewalk, careened off someone's picket fence, bumped through their front yard, dodged a tangled garden hose, slowed her bike, and gently fell into a forsythia bush. |
