endive

Cultivated annual plant, the leaves of which are used in salads and cooking. One variety has narrow, curled leaves; another has wide, smooth leaves. It is related to chicory. (Cichorium endivia, family Compositae.)

These may contain a great variety of ingredients such as red and green romaine, oak leaf lettuce, frisee, arugula, radicchio, baby red chard, and baby spinach.
