fructoseSugar that occurs naturally in honey, the nectar of flowers, and many sweet fruits; it is commercially prepared from glucose. Fructose is a monosaccharide, whereas the more familiar cane or beet sugar is a disaccharide, made up of two monosaccharide units: fructose and glucose.
