Gambier

Small town in Knox County, central Ohio; population (1990) 2,100. It is located 8 km/5 mi southeast of Mount Vernon, on a plateau overlooking the Kokosing River. The town is home to Kenyon College (1824), the Gothic buildings of which are modelled on those of Oxford University in England.

This group covers an area of 370 square leagues, and it is formed of sixty groups of islands, among which the Gambier group is remarkable, over which France exercises sway.
It will be perceived more clearly by inspecting the following sections which are real ones, taken in north and south lines, through the islands with their barrier-reefs, of Vanikoro, Gambier, and Maurua; and they are laid down, both vertically and horizontally, on the same scale of a quarter of an inch to a mile.
