gas lawsPhysical laws concerning the behaviour of gases. They include Boyle's law and Charles's law, which are concerned with the relationships between the pressure (P), temperature (T), and volume (V) of an ideal (hypothetical) gas. These two laws can be combined to give the general or universal gas law, which may be expressed as: The laws state that gas pressure depends on the temperature and volume of the gas. If the volume of a gas is kept constant, its pressure increases with temperature. When a gas is squeezed into a smaller volume, its pressure increases. If the pressure of a gas is constant, its volume increases with temperature. Such behaviour of gases depends on the kinetic theory of matter, and particle theory, which states that all matter is composed of particles. How to thank TFD for its existence? | Supreme Court justices on Wednesday began weighing whether to force the federal EPA to regulate tailpipe emissions in a high-stakes case that could test California's new greenhouse gas laws and set the stage for congressional action on global warming. Rivier says the deviation may stem from subtle differences between the physical properties of an actual network of bubbles and the theoretical ideal -- just as real gases stray from ideal gas laws. com), a Schlumberger company, today announced its agreement with the Barrows Company to make available the world's most comprehensive library of oil and gas laws and contracts from virtually every country outside North America. |
