Exactly what proportion of each achievement is determined by one's genetic endowment and what proportion by one's own effort is, of course, not yet known.
Culture and behavior, this example seems to suggest, are much more important to determining human lifespan than genetic endowment.
D'Souza, incidentally, says parents shouldn't be allowed to alter their children's genetic endowment, because this would subvert the child's "self-determination.
