ganglionSolid cluster of nervous tissue containing many cell bodies and synapses, usually enclosed in a tissue sheath; found in invertebrates and vertebrates. The ganglia in the head (cerebral ganglia) are usually well developed and are analogous to the brain in vertebrates. In vertebrates, most ganglia occur outside the central nervous system. ganglion

| Computed tomography demonstrated a soft-tissue mass in the middle ear space and a bony expansion of the fallopian canal from the geniculate ganglion to the stylomastoid foramen. 3, for example, the geniculate ganglion is illustrated as being suspended from cranial nerve VIII, whereas in reality the geniculate ganglion has a relationship to cranial nerve VII. Magnetic resonance imaging with gadolinium contrast showed an enhancement of the facial nerve extending from the area of the geniculate ganglion to its intraparotid segment. |
